If you’re behind on reconciling accounts, your financial reports don’t make sense, or your bank balance doesn’t match QuickBooks, chances are you need a clean-up. If your CPA has ever told you your books are “a mess,” that’s a sign too.
We review and fix inaccurate data, reconcile accounts, correct miscategorized transactions, clean up your chart of accounts, eliminate duplicates, and prepare your books for tax filing or ongoing bookkeeping.
We can go back as many years as needed. Most clients need 6–24 months of clean-up, but we’ve handled projects spanning several years.
Most clean-ups are completed in 2–4 weeks, depending on how far behind you are and how complex your data is.
Just a QuickBooks Online login (we’ll guide you through sharing access) and a short onboarding form. No long meetings or paperwork.
Yes! Most of our clients started with a clean-up and then chose to have us maintain their books monthly so they never fall behind again.
Clean-up is a one-time service. No long-term commitment required. You can add ongoing support if and when you’re ready.
Cleanup is a one-time engagement focused on fixing past errors and catching up on missed months. Monthly bookkeeping is an ongoing service that keeps your books current going forward. Most clients need cleanup first, then transition to monthly bookkeeping to keep things clean.
leanup is billed hourly — $50/hour for support staff, who do most of the work, and $85/hour for manager time on complex issues and final review. We estimate total hours based on how many months or years back you need cleaned up. Book a free consultation and we’ll give you an honest hour range for your specific situation.
We handle multi-year cleanups regularly. The engagement takes longer (typically 6-12 weeks for 2-3 years of cleanup), but the process is the same. We start with the oldest period and work forward, reconciling as we go.
QuickBooks Online — and only QuickBooks Online. We made the deliberate choice to specialize rather than spread thin across multiple platforms. Every bookkeeper on our team holds a current QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification, so you get expertise from someone who knows the platform inside out. If your books are currently in Xero, Wave, QuickBooks Desktop, or spreadsheets, we can migrate them to QBO as part of your cleanup engagement.
Sometimes, yes. If cleanup uncovers material errors in periods that have already been filed, you may need to amend your prior returns. We flag anything we find, coordinate with your CPA, and provide the corrected numbers they need to file amendments.
Almost always, yes. Starting monthly bookkeeping on top of messy historical books is like painting over rust — it looks fine at first but the underlying problems remain. Most monthly bookkeepers will require a cleanup engagement upfront, or refuse to take on your books until they’re clean.
For QuickBooks Online, you invite us as your accountant user — no passwords shared. For other platforms during a migration engagement, we use secure file transfer and read-only access wherever possible.
We prioritize deadline-driven cleanups when scope allows. Tell us your deadline on the discovery call and we’ll be honest about whether the timeline is realistic. If it is, we build the engagement to hit it.
Your bookkeeper reconciles your accounts, categorizes your transactions and produces your financial statements. They also make adjustments to your books to ensure they’re tax-compliant.
We’ve assembled a group of certified QuickBooks professionals you can trust to deliver insightful solutions, results-oriented and cost-effective. We collaborate with clients throughout the business life cycle, providing compliance, analysis, and advisory services. We focus on your success because we know your success is our success.
